NPP Nhyiaeso constituency chairman GeoKad has died
GeoKad, said to be the longest-serving constituency chairman in the NPP, had been unwell and was on admission at UGMC in Accra, where he died
The New Patriotic Party chairman for Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti Region, George Kofi Adjei (popularly known as “GeoKad”), has died. He passed away at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra on Wednesday (31 July 2024).
GeoKad, who was said to be the longest-serving constituency chairman in the NPP, had been ill and was on admission at UGMC for about a week before he died.
Following the announcement of his death, many NPP faithful have taken to social media to mourn his passing.
The vice-president and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, eulogised the late GeoKad in a post on his Facebook page.
“I have been devastated by the passing away of Chairman George Kofi Adjei, popularly known as GeoKad. Chairman Geokad was a bold, dedicated and [the] longest-serving constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom).
“Memories of his work towards the unity and well-being of the party are still fresh in my mind. I cannot personally thank him enough for the significant role he played towards my election as the flagbearer of the party,” said Dr Bawumia in his eulogy.
“Chairman, we are sorry you had to leave us at this crucial moment but we are assured that your spirit will for ever be with us as we journey to make your dream of winning the 2024 election come through,” the eulogy further said.
“Strongman”
Ernest Owusu Bempah, a deputy communications director of the NPP, posted on his WhatsApp status: “Wofa Joe, damirifa due, my good friend.”
Krobea, another deputy director of communications for the NPP, also wrote the following on his WhatsApp status: “Awww Chairman Joe Kad. Strongman, da yie.”
Stephen Amoah (“Sticka”), the sitting Member of Parliament for the constituency where GeoKad was chairman, is a deputy minister of finance.
