Twifo-Atti-Morkwa NPP PC, 2 others remanded in Police custody

The Assin Kyekyerwere Circuit Court has remanded Mr. Ebenezer Dwamena, the 2024 New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Twifo Ati-Morkwa Constituency, and two others into Police custody.

The accused persons face charges of conspiracy to defraud by false pretense and false pretenses, contrary to section 131 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

The presiding judge, Her Ladyship Esp. Sophia Priscila Yeboah’s remand decision is intended to allow time for the Police to forward the case docket to the Attorney- General’s Office for advice.

The accused persons’ lawyers had raised concerns about the circuit court’s jurisdiction, citing the amount involved, which exceeds Gh¢300,000.00.

Background

The case involves allegations that Mr. Ebenezer Dwamena the PC and his accomplices failed to produce a vehicle after receiving payment from a businessman in Twifo Praso.
