Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah Rallies Ashanti Region Voters For Dr. Bawumia And NPP – Kankam Twumasi Daniel Writes

In a spirited campaign over the weekend, renowned legal practitioner and staunch advocate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Lawyer Charles Owusu Juanah, took his message to the heart of the Ashanti Region. As Patron of Friends of Bawumia 08, Lawyer Juanah’s mission was clear: to inform and inspire voters to make a choice rooted in Ghana’s development trajectory by comparing the track records of the NPP and the NDC, while tracing the origins and impact of the NDC from its beginnings under the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) to its current form.
On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, Lawyer Juanah joined King Edward De Slave on Hello FM’s popular political show AKOKO ABON. In an eye-opening discussion, Lawyer Juanah educated listeners on the AFRC’s transformation into the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which later evolved into today’s NDC. He traced the NDC’s historical actions, emphasizing their privatization of state enterprises to insiders, which he argued contributed significantly to the nation’s high unemployment rates. “These people sold state enterprises to themselves, friends, and families,” Lawyer Juanah stated. “These enterprises were mismanaged, and that was the beginning of unemployment in this country.”…
Transitioning into a comparison of the NPP and NDC’s governance since the Fourth Republic, Lawyer Juanah laid out his views on nation-building, emphasizing human resource development as a cornerstone of prosperity. “In nation building, what helps a country to prosper and develop is its human resource. Developed countries worldwide prioritize empowering citizens through education and social support, which in turn fosters national growth,” he stated…
Reflecting on former President Jerry Rawlings’s tenure, Lawyer Juanah noted the lack of social interventions and the prevalent “cash-and-carry” healthcare system. Education, he explained, was reserved for the privileged, and many were forced to drop out due to economic hardships. The transformation began under John Kufuor’s administration, which, despite inheriting an ailing economy, implemented social interventions after entering the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) program. Among these were the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the School Feeding Program, which alleviated healthcare costs, improved nutrition for schoolchildren, and led to a more hopeful future for many Ghanaians…
In a passionate appeal, Lawyer Juanah emphasized why Dr. Bawumia and the NPP are best positioned to sustain Ghana’s development trajectory. He pointed to a range of major projects initiated by President Nana Addo’s administration that remain ongoing, including the following:
• Infrastructure Expansion: Roads, bridges, and transportation networks aimed at boosting connectivity and accessibility across the country.
• Health Facilities: Construction and upgrading of hospitals, clinics, and medical centers to improve healthcare access and quality.
• Educational Initiatives: Expansion of schools and resources to support the Free SHS policy and strengthen the educational system.
• Agricultural Programs: Initiatives such as Planting for Food and Jobs, intended to support farmers, boost food production, and ensure food security.
• Industrialization Programs: The One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative, which aims to create jobs and stimulate local economies.
• Water and Sanitation Projects: Water supply projects to ensure clean and accessible water for all communities.
Lawyer Juanah argued that Dr. Bawumia, who has been instrumental in these projects as Vice President, is best positioned to ensure their completion. He urged voters to give Bawumia the mandate to continue this progress and see these transformative projects through…
Lawyer Juanah also touched on the economic challenges that arose under the NDC’s rule from 2009 to 2016, particularly during John Mahama’s tenure. The energy crisis, known locally as “dumsor,” crippled businesses and worsened unemployment. “When Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia came into office in 2017, they resolved dumsor within six months, showing their commitment to solving real issues affecting Ghanaians”, Juanah said.
Moreover, the Free SHS policy, launched in their first year, underscored their dedication to human capital development. Through this program, every Ghanaian child, regardless of financial standing, now has access to secondary education.
After his radio appearance, Lawyer Juanah carried his campaign to Ejisu Constituency, meeting voters in Adako-Jachie, Abankro, and Besiase-Jamasi. In each interaction, he delved into the NDC’s historical governance record, attributing today’s unemployment crisis to their mismanagement and privatization of state enterprises. He reminisced about his own student years, where holiday jobs were readily available for young Ghanaians, contrasting it with today’s limited job opportunities. “Unemployment was not an issue in Ghana back then. Today’s crisis began when the NDC sold our state enterprises,” he remarked…
Turning his attention to the current election, Lawyer Juanah urged voters to cast their ballots for both Dr. Bawumia and the NPP parliamentary candidates, highlighting the importance of parliamentary support for effective governance. He pointed out the gridlock often seen in Parliament due to divided party representation, emphasizing that a cooperative Parliament allows for smoother implementation of policies that benefit citizens. “The presidency needs full support in Parliament to pass crucial legislation without unnecessary delays,” he explained…
As his campaign trail continued, Lawyer Juanah projected Dr. Bawumia as the only candidate capable of building upon the legacies of John Kufuor and Nana Addo. With a deep understanding of Ghana’s economy and a commitment to transformative policies, Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana is one of prosperity, social intervention, and economic empowerment. Key promises in his manifesto include:
• Universal Health Coverage Program: Ensuring accessible, quality healthcare for all Ghanaians, particularly through expanding facilities and upgrading the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
• Job Creation Initiatives: Programs to boost employment, particularly for youth and graduates, through initiatives such as the National Apprenticeship Program and strengthened vocational training.
• Expansion of the Free SHS Policy: Providing access to quality secondary education while extending support to include vocational and technical education.
• Digitization and Financial Inclusion: Expanding digital infrastructure to improve access to financial services, particularly for rural communities, and support economic growth.
• Affordable Housing Projects: Initiatives to provide affordable housing for low- and middle-income families to address the housing deficit.
• Support for SMEs and Startups: Policies aimed at fostering small and medium-sized enterprises by offering financial support and training, with the goal of strengthening local economies and innovation.
• Infrastructure Development Fund: Allocating resources to maintain and expand roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure to drive economic growth and connectivity.
These promises, aimed at improving healthcare, creating job opportunities, and expanding social services, hold the potential to uplift every Ghanaian…
Lawyer Juanah’s campaign in the Ashanti Region underscored his belief that Dr. Bawumia is uniquely positioned to lead Ghana forward, merging continuity with innovation. By building on the transformative achievements of the NPP and introducing ambitious policies for universal healthcare, job creation, and digital inclusion, Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana seeks to empower citizens across all regions and demographics.
Lawyer Juanah’s advocacy highlighted the interconnected nature of these policies, aimed at fostering a resilient economy, an inclusive society, and a robust infrastructure that will serve generations to come. He emphasized that voting for Dr. Bawumia and NPP parliamentary candidates is not just about supporting a political party but about endorsing a comprehensive plan to elevate Ghana’s potential. With a mandate from the people, Dr. Bawumia is prepared to harness the nation’s human resource strengths and ensure that the legacy of progress initiated under Presidents John Kufuor and Nana Addo continues to flourish, securing a prosperous future for all Ghanaians…
